How GuideMeet Uses Cookies and Similar Technologies

This Cookie Policy explains how Guidemeet Private limited, a company registered in Nepal (“GuideMeet,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), uses cookies and similar technologies on GuideMeet.com and related websites and applications collectively referred to as the “Platform.” This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
GuideMeet uses cookies and similar technologies in accordance with this Cookie Policy, the GuideMeet Privacy Policy and applicable law. Where consent is required—or where GuideMeet provides consent as a Platform privacy choice—we will allow users to accept, reject or manage non-essential cookies. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that occurred before withdrawal.
1. What Cookies and Similar Technologies Are
Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device when you visit a website. They can allow a website to recognize a browser, maintain a secure session, remember preferences and understand how the website is used. We use “cookies” in this Policy as a general term that may also include:
- local storage;
- pixels and tags;
- software development kits;
- session identifiers;
- device or browser identifiers; and
- similar storage or access technologies.
Cookies may be:
- session cookies, which normally expire when you close your browser;
- persistent cookies, which remain until their stated expiry or until you delete them;
- first-party cookies, which are set by GuideMeet; or
- third-party cookies, which are set by an authorized service integrated with the Platform.
2. Cookie Categories
Cookies used by GuideMeet may fall into the following categories:

The specific cookie names, providers, purposes and durations actually used will be listed in the Platform’s cookie settings panel or cookie register.
3. How GuideMeet Uses Cookies
GuideMeet may use cookies to:
- keep users signed in and maintain secure sessions;
- protect accounts and GuideMeet Messages from unauthorized access;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized image scraping and automated attacks;
- manage Web Application Firewall (WAF) security challenges and enforce rate limits;
- remember consent choices and Platform preferences;
- preserve selected Guide-search filters, language and display settings;
- understand how visitors use public Guide Profiles, destination pages and Guide Insights;
- measure navigation to Inquiries, Messages and other eligible features without making private message content public;
- measure technical performance and diagnose errors;
- support Guide subscription checkout, renewal and payment status;
- support future payment features only if and when they are enabled; and
- measure campaign performance where enabled with any consent required by law.
GuideMeet does not use cookies to make private GuideMeet Messages content, unpublished verification documents or private dashboard information publicly visible.
4. Current and Future Cookie Uses
Guide subscription checkout is the primary current payment-related cookie use described in this Policy. Cookies associated with future Consultations, Services, Traveler payments, Guide payouts, scheduling or transaction features will be used only if those features are enabled. GuideMeet will update the cookie register and provide any additional notice or consent required before introducing a materially different non-essential cookie purpose.
GuideMeet does not currently use advertising or cross-context behavioural-advertising cookies.
5. Strictly Necessary Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies support services requested by a user or functions required for security and Platform operation. They may include:
- login and authentication;
- session continuity;
- account and message security;
- fraud and abuse prevention;
- bot detection and anti-scraping controls (such as CDN/WAF security cookies);
- network management and load balancing;
- consent-choice storage; and
- Guide subscription checkout.
These cookies are not controlled through the non-essential cookie toggle because the relevant feature may not function without them. You can block them through browser settings, but parts of GuideMeet—including login, dashboards, GuideMeet Messages or checkout—may stop working. GuideMeet will not classify a cookie as strictly necessary merely because it is convenient, useful for analytics or beneficial to advertising.
6. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies remember optional choices such as:
- language;
- destination filters;
- saved display preferences;
- interface settings; and
- other user-selected functionality.
If functional cookies are disabled, some preferences may need to be selected again and certain optional features may not work as expected.
7. Analytics and Performance Cookies
Analytics and performance technologies may help GuideMeet understand:
- aggregated visits and navigation;
- use of Guide search and filters;
- engagement with Guide Profiles and Guide Insights;
- feature-entry and conversion paths;
- page and application performance;
- errors and failed interactions; and
- which Platform areas require improvement.
Analytics should be configured to collect no more information than reasonably necessary for the stated purpose. Where required by applicable law, analytics and performance cookies will remain disabled until the user affirmatively consents.
The cookie register and settings panel will identify each analytics provider before its cookies are activated. Analytics providers must not be permitted to use private GuideMeet Messages content, verification documents or complete payment details for their independent advertising purposes.
8. Payment-Related Technologies
When a Guide begins a paid subscription checkout, Stripe or a supported Nepal/international payment provider may use cookies or similar technologies for:
- secure payment processing;
- authentication;
- recurring-payment authorization;
- fraud prevention;
- dispute and chargeback handling; and
- legal or regulatory compliance.
These providers may collect device, billing, transaction and fraud-prevention information under their own privacy and cookie notices. GuideMeet normally does not receive or store complete payment-card numbers. Payment-provider technologies should load only when technically necessary for an initiated payment flow or otherwise permitted by the user’s consent and applicable law. If Traveler payment features are enabled later, this Policy and the cookie register will be updated where necessary before the related technologies are used.
9. Embedded Content and Third-Party Features
The Platform may include third-party content or functionality such as:
- video or media players;
- maps;
- social-sharing tools;
- authentication services;
- customer-support tools; and
- security or fraud-prevention services.
These providers may set cookies when their content or feature loads. Where a cookie is not strictly necessary, GuideMeet will seek to block it until any consent required by law has been obtained. Where practical, GuideMeet may use a consent placeholder requiring the user to choose to load optional third-party embedded content.
10. Third-Party Providers
Third-party cookie or technology providers may include:
- Stripe and supported Nepal/international payment providers;
- hosting, content-delivery (CDN) and Web Application Firewall (WAF) security providers;
- analytics and performance providers;
- authentication and security providers;
- embedded video, media and map providers;
- customer-support and communication providers; and
- consent-management providers.
Some providers process information only on GuideMeet’s instructions. Others may independently determine how they process certain information under their own legal obligations and privacy notices. The specific providers actually deployed must be identified in the cookie register before launch.
11. Guide Visibility and Advertising
Featured Guide, Destination Expert and paid Guide visibility are internal Platform ranking or display features. These features do not by themselves require targeted-advertising cookies and do not mean that GuideMeet sells personal information. GuideMeet does not currently use cookies to share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. Private GuideMeet Messages, verification documents, payment information and Referral-consent records will not be used for targeted advertising without a separate lawful basis, required notice and any required consent.
12. Cookie Duration
Cookie duration depends on the specific purpose and provider. In general:
- session cookies normally expire when the browser session ends;
- security, consent and preference cookies may remain for several days or up to 12 months;
- analytics cookies, if enabled, may remain for up to 24 months unless configured for a shorter period; and
- payment-provider cookies may remain for a session or another period established by the provider for fraud prevention, security or compliance.
These are general ranges only. The cookie register or settings panel will provide the actual duration of each cookie used on the Platform. GuideMeet will configure cookies for no longer than reasonably necessary for their stated purpose.
13. Managing Your Cookie Choices
Depending on the user’s location, applicable law or GuideMeet’s decision to provide a broader Platform privacy choice, GuideMeet will provide a cookie banner when the user first visits the Platform. The primary choices should include:
- Accept all;
- Reject non-essential; and
- Manage preferences.
The settings panel should allow users to:
- review cookie categories;
- enable or disable eligible categories;
- understand the purpose of each category;
- see the providers and durations where available; and
- change or withdraw consent later.
Rejecting non-essential cookies should be as accessible as accepting them. Optional cookies must not be activated through pre-selected consent toggles where affirmative consent is required. Changing or withdrawing consent applies going forward and does not affect processing completed lawfully before the change. A persistent “Cookie Settings” or similar link should remain available in the Platform footer or another accessible location.
14. Browser Controls
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies through their settings. Browser controls vary. Blocking all cookies may prevent login, GuideMeet Messages, dashboards, checkout and other Platform features from functioning properly. Consent choices may need to be requested again if you:
- clear cookies or site storage;
- use a different browser;
- use a different device; or
- use a private browsing session.
15. Consent Records and Renewal
GuideMeet may store records of:
- consent or rejection choices;
- selected cookie categories;
- policy or banner version;
- date and time;
- relevant device or browser identifier; and
- later changes or withdrawal.
These records may be retained for an approved period to demonstrate and respect the user’s choice. GuideMeet may request consent again when:
- a new material cookie purpose is introduced;
- a materially different provider is introduced;
- applicable law requires renewed consent;
- the existing consent expires under GuideMeet’s approved configuration; or
- GuideMeet cannot reliably recognize a previous choice.
16. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
Some browsers or extensions transmit Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
Where applicable law requires GuideMeet to treat GPC or another eligible opt-out preference signal as a request to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, GuideMeet will honor that signal. GuideMeet does not currently sell personal information or use cross-context behavioural advertising. There is no universally accepted legal or technical standard requiring the same response to DNT signals. GuideMeet does not currently respond differently to DNT alone, but users can manage available non-essential cookies through Cookie Settings.
17. International and Regional Operation
GuideMeet is based in Nepal and is designed for international use. Cookie and consent requirements may differ depending on the user’s location. Where permitted, GuideMeet may configure the banner or settings to meet applicable regional requirements. However, regional configuration will not be used to bypass a consent requirement that legally applies. Before activating regulated tracking or advertising technologies in a new target market, GuideMeet will complete the relevant legal and technical review.
18. Changes to This Policy
GuideMeet may update this Cookie Policy when the Platform, providers, technologies, features or legal requirements change. We will revise the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice or request renewed consent where required. GuideMeet will update the cookie register when a cookie, provider, purpose, category or duration materially changes.
