Report a User or Content

If something on GuideMeet appears unsafe, abusive, fraudulent, misleading, unlawful or inconsistent with our rules, please report it. Reports help GuideMeet protect Travelers, Guides and the integrity of the Platform.

You can report a user, Guide Profile, message, Insight (FieldNote), review, Service, Consultation, Referral, collaboration activity, image or other content where the relevant feature is available.

Immediate Danger or Emergency

GuideMeet is not an emergency, rescue, medical or public-safety service.

If there is an immediate threat to life, safety or property, contact the appropriate local police, medical, fire, rescue or other emergency authority first. Do not wait for GuideMeet to respond.

GuideMeet does not continuously monitor messages, locations, trips or user activity and may not be able to respond immediately or verify conditions in real time.

After contacting the appropriate authorities, you may also report the user or activity to GuideMeet so we can assess possible Platform action.

What You Can Report

Depending on the feature, you may report:

  • a Traveler, Guide or other user account;
  • a Guide Profile or verification-related claim;

  • a review or rating;
  • a Consultation or Service listing or request;
  • a connection request, Referral or collaboration activity;
  • spam, suspicious links or attempts to move communication off-platform for an improper purpose;
  • misuse of GuideMeet’s name, badges, watermarks or features;

  • non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • copyright or trademark concern;
  • suspected unauthorized reuse of a GuideMeet-hosted image;
  • a misleading claim that GuideMeet owns, verifies, approves or certifies an image;
  • unlawful, deceptive or harmful content; or
  • another violation of the Community & Messaging Guidelines.

GuideMeet Image Protection and Reports

GuideMeet uses layered protection for public images. Depending on the image and its size, a public copy may be:

  • resized and optimized;
  • displayed with a visible GuideMeet platform watermark;
  • assigned an opaque signed asset identifier that may be recovered during internal investigation;
  • provided with standardized rights metadata;
  • delivered through public CDN copies rather than the original upload; and
  • associated with technical hashes and asset records used to investigate duplicate or unauthorized copies.

These measures help identify GuideMeet as the hosting platform and support investigation of unauthorized reuse. They do not make copying or downloading impossible, prove ownership, transfer ownership to GuideMeet or establish that a person, image or Service is verified, approved or certified.

The GuideMeet watermark identifies the hosting platform. Unless GuideMeet separately owns the image, it does not identify GuideMeet as the copyright owner.

Where protection applies

Protection may apply to public copies of:

  • Guide Profile gallery images;
  • Guide Profile cover images;
  • Guide Service or package images;
  • Guide Insight images; and
  • other future public Guide content.

For profile avatars, GuideMeet may use no visible watermark or a small watermark because avatars are commonly displayed at small sizes.

Content that must remain private

GuideMeet must not publicly watermark or expose:

  • identity documents;
  • licences and certificates;
  • verification photographs;
  • report evidence;
  • private-message attachments;
  • consultation documents;
  • payment documents; or
  • images marked private.

Public images are processed separately from originals. The original upload must remain in encrypted private storage and must not be available through a public URL or “view original” endpoint.

If you believe private or sensitive material is publicly accessible, select Privacy and sensitive information and mark the report Urgent Safety Concern where appropriate.

Visible watermark reports

A visible watermark is normally placed near the bottom-right of a public image, with safe margins and an adaptive light or dark version. Its size and opacity may vary to preserve readability and avoid covering faces or important information. Very small images may not display a visible watermark if it would become unreadable.

The watermark must not state:

  • “Verified by GuideMeet”;
  • “GuideMeet Approved”;
  • “GuideMeet Certified”; or
  • “© GuideMeet”.

Report a watermark only if it is misleading, materially obscures important information, exposes private material, appears on content that should not be public, or otherwise violates a policy or legal right.

Invisible asset identifiers

GuideMeet may test and use a signed, opaque identifier in public image copies. An identifier may have a structure similar to:

GM1:{public_asset_token}:{signature}

It must not contain personal information. A signed identifier is an internal investigation and asset-management measure, not a guarantee of ownership protection.

GuideMeet may test recovery after compression, conversion, resizing, cropping, screenshots, brightness or contrast changes, filters and social-media recompression. GuideMeet should not describe the identifier publicly as reliable ownership protection unless it meets documented resilience thresholds.

Metadata

GuideMeet sanitizes public processing copies before adding controlled rights information. Sanitization is intended to remove information such as:

  • GPS coordinates;
  • camera serial numbers;
  • device-owner information;
  • private filenames;
  • contact details;
  • embedded thumbnails; and
  • editing history.

Controlled metadata may identify the supplied creator or rights holder where known, GuideMeet as the hosting source, an opaque public asset identifier and the applicable rights statement.

GuideMeet does not identify itself as the copyright owner unless it actually owns the image.

If you report exposed metadata, include the public image URL and explain what information appears to be exposed. Do not upload unnecessary copies of sensitive material.

Use the Correct Reporting Route

This page is GuideMeet’s central safety and content-reporting route. Some matters have a more specific process:

A disagreement, negative review, slow reply or unsuccessful discussion does not necessarily violate GuideMeet’s rules. Report it only if you reasonably believe there is a policy, safety, legal, privacy or integrity concern.

How to Report

Report from the relevant content

Where available, select Report from the menu on the relevant Guide Profile, image, message, Insight, review, Service, Referral or collaboration record. Reporting from the item helps GuideMeet locate the correct content and preserve relevant context.

For image reports, the report should attach the relevant public asset reference or URL rather than exposing or requesting the original upload.

Use the central reporting form

Use the form on this page if:

  • you cannot access the in-product Report function;
  • the concern involves multiple users or items;
  • the content has already been removed;
  • you do not have a GuideMeet account; or
  • additional context is needed.

Email fallback

If the form is not available, contact legal@guidemeet.com with the subject “GuideMeet Report.”

Do not send reports only through social media or to an individual employee. Those channels may not be monitored for safety reports.

What to Include

A useful report should include, where available:

  • your name, email address and relationship to the matter;
  • whether you are reporting for yourself or another person;
  • the reported user’s name, profile link or account identifier;
  • the exact URL, public image URL, message, content or feature involved;
  • the report category and a clear description of what happened;
  • relevant dates, times, destination and country;
  • whether the conduct is continuing;
  • whether anyone faces an immediate or serious risk;
  • screenshots, transaction references or other relevant evidence that you may lawfully share;
  • for an image report, the public image URL, profile or Service location and a description of the suspected issue;
  • whether you have contacted emergency services, police, a payment provider or another authority; and
  • any accessibility, language or communication assistance needed for follow-up.

Share only information reasonably necessary for the report. Do not include passwords, full card details, private keys, unnecessary passport information, medical records or other sensitive data unless GuideMeet specifically requests it through an appropriate secure channel.

Special Instructions for Serious or Illegal Content

If a report concerns child sexual exploitation, trafficking, credible violence, non-consensual intimate imagery or other potentially illegal content:

  • do not download, copy, forward or redistribute the content merely to preserve evidence;
  • provide the URL, account, message reference or other location information instead;
  • do not confront a suspected offender if doing so may create danger;
  • contact the appropriate local authority or specialist reporting organization where required or appropriate; and
  • clearly mark the report as “Urgent Safety Concern.”

GuideMeet may preserve and refer relevant information to competent authorities where legally required or permitted. GuideMeet cannot guarantee that a report submitted through the Platform will receive an immediate response.

Reporting Messages and Private Content

Private message content is not public. GuideMeet does not routinely read every private conversation.

When you report a message, authorized personnel may access the reported message, reasonably necessary surrounding context and relevant account or technical information to assess the report, protect users, prevent fraud, enforce Platform rules or comply with law, as described in the Privacy Policy.

The reporting interface should clearly identify what message content and surrounding context will be submitted before the user confirms the report.

Blocking a User

If you do not want further contact, use Block where available. Blocking may stop new messages, connection requests, Referrals and collaboration requests, depending on the feature.

Blocking does not automatically submit a report. If you want GuideMeet to review possible misconduct, use both Block and Report where appropriate.

Past conversations or records may remain available or be preserved for your records, moderation, safety, dispute resolution and legal requirements.

What Happens After You Report

Depending on the report and available information, GuideMeet may:

  1. confirm receipt and create a case reference;
  2. prioritize the report based on apparent severity and urgency;
  3. request clarification or supporting information;
  4. review the reported content and relevant context;
  5. review profile, verification, subscription, Referral, collaboration, payment-provider or technical records where relevant and lawful;
  6. review public image asset records, hashes, processing history, watermark information, metadata-sanitization records, CDN logs or related technical information where relevant and lawful;
  7. temporarily restrict content, messaging or account functions while reviewing a serious concern;
  8. take moderation or account action;
  9. preserve evidence and records;
  10. purge or invalidate public CDN copies where content is removed or access must be restricted;
  11. notify an affected user and provide an appeal opportunity where appropriate; or
  12. refer information to service providers, advisers or competent authorities where required or permitted by law.

Submitting a report does not guarantee removal, suspension, CDN purging or a particular outcome. GuideMeet assesses the available information, applicable policies, context, user safety and legal obligations.

Possible Actions

GuideMeet may:

  • take no action where a violation cannot reasonably be established;
  • send education, guidance or a warning;
  • request a correction or additional disclosure;
  • hide, label, limit or remove content;
  • invalidate or purge public image copies;
  • restrict access to an image or associated public asset;
  • limit messaging, posting, Referral, collaboration, Consultation or Service functions;
  • remove or change a verification, activity or visibility signal;
  • require re-verification;
  • temporarily suspend or permanently terminate an account;
  • prevent circumvention through related accounts; or
  • take another proportionate action permitted by the Terms of Use.

A paid Guide subscription, Anchor rate, verification signal, Guide status, review score or collaboration does not prevent moderation or account action.

Image Deletion and Account Closure

When GuideMeet removes or a user deletes a public image, GuideMeet may:

  1. remove it from the Guide Profile, Service, Insight or other public feature;
  2. invalidate or purge public CDN copies;
  3. mark the image asset as deleted;
  4. remove the private original according to the applicable retention schedule; and
  5. preserve the image or related records only where required for an active report, dispute, legal hold or security investigation.

Account closure may trigger the same process. Deletion and related processing should be recorded in the audit log.

CDN or browser caches outside GuideMeet’s control may take time to disappear. GuideMeet does not guarantee immediate removal from third-party services, search indexes or copies made before deletion.

Report Status and Outcomes

Where appropriate, GuideMeet may provide a case reference, request an update or communicate a general outcome category.

GuideMeet may be unable to disclose:

  • private information about another user;
  • confidential verification or safety information;
  • internal detection methods;
  • image-protection or anti-scraping controls;
  • details that could compromise an investigation;
  • information restricted by law or a court order; or
  • the full reasons for action where disclosure could create additional risk.

GuideMeet does not guarantee a response or resolution within a particular period. Serious and credible safety concerns should be prioritized under documented internal procedures.

Confidentiality and Reporter Protection

GuideMeet will limit access to report information to people and service providers who reasonably need it for review, safety, legal compliance, support or enforcement.

We may share information with the reported user, affected people, advisers, service providers or authorities when reasonably necessary and legally permitted. Where possible, we will avoid disclosing the reporter’s identity if it is unnecessary, but anonymity cannot be guaranteed.

Do not retaliate against, threaten, harass or disadvantage a person for submitting or participating in a good-faith report. Retaliation may result in separate enforcement action.

Good-Faith Reporting

Submit reports honestly and provide information you reasonably believe to be accurate. A good-faith report does not violate our rules merely because GuideMeet cannot ultimately confirm the allegation.

Do not submit knowingly false, retaliatory, discriminatory, repetitive or manipulated reports. Do not alter evidence, coordinate mass reports to silence another user, impersonate another person or use the reporting system to gain a commercial advantage.

Misuse of reporting tools may result in restrictions or other action under the Terms of Use and applicable law.

Appeals by an Affected User

If GuideMeet takes an eligible content, image, verification or account action, the affected user may receive instructions to appeal through the available account tool or legal@guidemeet.com within 7 days after notice.

An appeal should:

  • identify the decision or case reference;
  • explain clearly why the decision should be reconsidered; and
  • include any material supporting information not previously considered.

Where reasonably practicable, an appeal should be reviewed by a person who was not solely responsible for the original decision. Restrictions may remain in place during an appeal where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance or prevention of further harm.

GuideMeet may decline repetitive appeals that provide no material new information. Copyright counter-notices and privacy appeals follow their separate procedures.

Privacy and Record Retention

GuideMeet processes report information as described in the Privacy Policy. We may retain reports, evidence, communications, moderation decisions and appeals for as long as reasonably necessary to resolve the matter, prevent repeated abuse, comply with law and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

If you report on behalf of another person, share their information only when you have appropriate authority and it is reasonably necessary. Information involving minors, health, precise location, identification documents or emergency contacts requires particular care.
