About Alex
My name is Alex Uniwaly, and I am a local birdwatching and wildlife guide based in Sorong, Southwest Papua. With 15 years of guiding experience, I have spent many years exploring the forests, wildlife habitats, villages, and natural environments of this unique part of Indonesia.
My main focus is birdwatching, wildlife observation, bird photography, herping, and rainforest exploration. I guide visitors through forest trails, village forests, lowland habitats, and other natural areas where they can experience the remarkable biodiversity of Southwest Papua.
I work in areas such as Klasowoh, Klafma, Klalik Ecidna Village, Malagufuk Village, Klamono, and other locations around Sorong and Southwest Papua. Trips can be customized according to the guest's available time, interests, target species, photography goals, and seasonal conditions.
Over the years, I have guided birders, wildlife photographers, nature lovers, herpers, researchers, and private travelers. I enjoy helping both experienced birdwatchers and beginners discover Papua's wildlife while sharing my local knowledge of the forests and surrounding communities.
I believe responsible wildlife guiding requires patience, respect for nature, and careful observation. I encourage guests to enjoy birds and wildlife without unnecessarily disturbing animals or damaging their natural habitats.
Community-based tourism is also an important part of my work. I enjoy working with local villages and helping visitors experience Southwest Papua in a way that respects local traditions and supports people living close to these natural areas.
My goal is to provide a comfortable, flexible, informative, and memorable journey while helping visitors better understand the birds, wildlife, forests, people, and biodiversity of Southwest Papua.
