About Arun
I am Arun Shah, a professional tour guide based in Janakpur, Nepal, with 6 years of experience in the tourism industry. My interest in guiding comes from the opportunity to introduce travelers to Nepal's cultural heritage, traditional lifestyles, historical landmarks, and local communities. I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds, learning about their interests, and helping them experience the places they visit with a better understanding of their history, culture, and significance.
Being based in Janakpur, I have a strong connection to a city known for its religious importance, Mithila heritage, traditional art, and cultural celebrations. Janakpur is closely associated with the Ramayana and is home to Janaki Mandir, one of Nepal's important Hindu pilgrimage landmarks. I believe that exploring a destination becomes more meaningful when visitors learn about the people, traditions, beliefs, and everyday life behind its attractions. I enjoy sharing these cultural connections and encouraging travelers to appreciate the living heritage of the communities they visit.
My interests in tourism extend beyond traditional cultural sightseeing. Nepal attracts visitors for many different reasons, including spiritual journeys, wellness, medical tourism, adventure, and sports-related travel. I welcome the opportunity to understand these different travel interests and help visitors explore suitable tourism experiences. For travelers visiting Nepal for medical or wellness purposes, I recognize the importance of clear communication and appropriate planning, while keeping medical advice and treatment within the responsibility of qualified healthcare professionals.
Communication is an important part of my approach to guiding. My tour guide identity card lists English, Chinese, and German as my languages. I value the opportunity to communicate with international visitors, understand their expectations, and help them feel comfortable when exploring unfamiliar destinations. I believe a good guide should be approachable, patient, respectful, and willing to explain local customs and traditions in a way that is easy to understand.
I also believe responsible tourism begins with respect for local people, cultural traditions, religious practices, and the surrounding environment. Whether travelers are interested in discovering heritage sites, learning about community life, exploring Nepal's spiritual traditions, or combining cultural activities with their wider travel plans, I aim to encourage thoughtful and respectful experiences. My goal is to make each journey informative and enjoyable while helping visitors develop a deeper appreciation of Nepal.
As a guide, I look forward to welcoming travelers who want to discover Nepal beyond its familiar attractions. I enjoy the conversations, cultural exchanges, and personal connections that come with guiding. For me, a meaningful travel experience is not simply about visiting a destination but also about understanding its stories, meeting its people, and taking home memories that remain long after the journey ends.
