About Dawa
Namaste! My name is Dawa Jangbu Lama, and I am a professional trekking guide from Nepal with 25 years of experience working in the Himalayan trekking industry. Over more than two decades, I have guided travelers through some of Nepal’s most recognized mountain regions and developed extensive practical experience in long-distance trekking, mountain travel, and supporting international guests on Himalayan journeys.
My main areas of experience include the Everest Region, Everest Base Camp, and Annapurna Base Camp. These destinations offer very different trekking environments, and working across them has allowed me to build broad experience with mountain trails, changing landscapes, local communities, and the demands of multi-day trekking.
The Everest region has been an important part of my guiding experience. I enjoy helping travelers experience not only the journey toward Everest Base Camp but also the mountain settlements, Himalayan landscapes, and local culture encountered along the way. I believe the experience of the trail is just as important as reaching the final destination.
I also have experience guiding travelers toward Annapurna Base Camp, where the journey passes through forests, traditional settlements, valleys, and dramatic mountain scenery. Guiding in different regions has taught me how important it is to understand the character of each route and adapt to the needs of individual travelers.
With 25 years in the profession, I have worked with guests with many different levels of trekking experience. Some are experienced hikers, while others may be visiting the Himalayas for the first time. I understand that every traveler has a different pace, level of fitness, comfort, and personal goal, so I try to provide guidance that is patient, practical, and responsive to the individual.
My guiding style is calm, responsible, supportive, and professional. Many years in the mountains have taught me the importance of communication, teamwork, preparation, flexibility, and careful attention to the people I guide.
For me, trekking is more than reaching a destination. It is about experiencing the mountains, meeting local communities, appreciating the landscapes, and creating meaningful memories throughout the journey.
After 25 years of guiding, I continue to enjoy sharing Nepal’s Himalayas with travelers from around the world. My goal is to provide a well-supported, enjoyable, and memorable trekking experience while helping guests appreciate the mountains, people, and culture that make Nepal such a special destination.
