About Devendra
Namaste! I am Devendra Gautam, an experienced tourist guide, writer, translator, columnist, and blogger from Nepal. I have been working as a tourist guide for more than a decade, while my professional background also includes over 25 years of experience as a desk editor, writer, columnist, and media professional.
My academic background in Sociology and Public Administration from Tribhuvan University has shaped the way I understand and present the places I visit with travelers. I am particularly interested in the connections between people, society, culture, history, and the places where they live.
As a guide, I enjoy creating experiences that go beyond simply visiting well-known attractions. Nepal has a fascinating combination of history, living traditions, architecture, religion, communities, landscapes, and everyday life. I enjoy helping travelers understand the stories and social context behind the places they see.
My guiding experience includes destinations such as Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Pokhara, Lumbini, and Chitwan, as well as several other parts of Nepal. Each destination offers a different perspective of the country, from historic cities and cultural heritage to spiritual sites, natural landscapes, and local communities.
My background as a writer, columnist, blogger, translator, and desk editor is an important part of my approach to guiding. I enjoy communicating information clearly and turning historical and cultural knowledge into stories that are engaging and easy for travelers to understand.
I am passionate about reading, traveling, and exploring, and these interests continually encourage me to learn more about Nepal and the wider world. I enjoy meeting people from different cultures and sharing perspectives through travel.
I speak English and Hindi and can communicate comfortably with travelers from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to make each journey informative, engaging, and enjoyable while giving visitors a deeper understanding of Nepal's culture, history, society, and people.
Whether you are exploring ancient cities, visiting important cultural and spiritual sites, discovering Nepal's natural landscapes, or simply wanting to understand everyday life in the country, I aim to provide a thoughtful and enriching experience.
For me, guiding is not simply about showing travelers where to go — it is about helping them understand what they are seeing, why it matters, and how it connects to the people and history of Nepal.
