About Eko
Meet Your Local Guide in Indonesia
Hello, I’m Eko, a licensed local guide from Lombok, Indonesia.
Born and raised in Lombok, I have a personal connection to the landscapes, culture, traditions, and everyday life of the islands I call home. For me, guiding is more than showing people beautiful places. It is about helping travelers understand the destinations they visit, connect with local communities, and experience Indonesia beyond the usual tourist highlights.
My experience and approach
My professional journey in hospitality began in 2011, including international work experience in Romania before returning to Indonesia. Throughout my journey, I have also gained practical experience assisting and guiding guests. In 2026, I obtained my official tour guide credentials in Indonesia, formalizing my commitment to providing travelers with authentic and responsible local experiences.
I value clear communication, attentive service, reliability, and understanding each guest’s needs. I speak English and enjoy meeting people from different cultures and helping them feel comfortable exploring a new destination.
As a licensed tourist guide, I combine my professional experience with local knowledge to help travelers discover places, stories, and experiences that make each journey special.
Explore Lombok, Sumbawa, and Komodo
My guiding work focuses on three fascinating destinations, each offering a different side of Indonesia.
Lombok: Discover traditional villages, rice terraces, waterfalls, local food, scenic coastlines, snorkeling spots, and the island’s rich cultural character.
Sumbawa: Explore quieter islands, beautiful coastal landscapes, snorkeling destinations, and authentic experiences away from Indonesia’s busier tourist centers.
Komodo: Experience the remarkable landscapes of Komodo National Park, from its iconic island viewpoints and pink-sand beaches to its marine life and unforgettable boat journeys.
Depending on your interests and travel plans, I can help you explore these destinations through private tours and personalized local experiences.
My philosophy: travel beyond the usual itinerary
I believe the best journeys are not always about visiting the most famous places. Sometimes they are about discovering a quiet corner of an island, learning a local story, sharing a moment with the people who live there, or simply having the freedom to explore at your own pace.
I aim to create experiences that are personal, respectful, flexible, and connected to the real character of each destination.
Building Island Compass
Alongside my work as a local guide, I am building Island Compass, a travel project designed to help travelers discover accommodation, local adventures, and travel experiences across Lombok, Sumbawa, and Komodo, with a broader vision of connecting travelers with the people and places that make Indonesia special.
Through Island Compass, I hope to make local knowledge more accessible and help travelers plan journeys that are meaningful, practical, and connected to the destinations they visit.
Let’s explore Indonesia together
Whether you are looking for a private island adventure, a cultural journey, snorkeling in clear tropical waters, or a more personal way to discover Indonesia, I would be happy to help you explore.
