About Gokul

I come from the Solukhumbu region, the home of Mount Everest, and the mountains have been an important part of my life from an early age. My journey in the tourism industry began when I was just 17, working as a porter on a multi-week camping tour. We carried almost everything needed for the journey, including food, drinks, cooking utensils, sleeping equipment, and tents. Carrying nearly 50 kg on my back was not easy, especially as the youngest member of the group, but the encouragement of my colleagues helped me push through the challenges and complete the tour. That first experience taught me much more than how to carry a heavy load. It introduced me to the realities of life in the mountains, the importance of teamwork, and the responsibility that comes with supporting travelers in remote environments. At the end of the tour, I earned money that I was able to take home to my family. That experience gave me the motivation to continue working in the mountains and inspired me to pursue a long-term career as a trekking guide. Over the years, I worked in different roles, including porter, assistant guide, and lead guide. I have now been involved in more than 200 tours, gaining practical experience on a wide range of trekking routes throughout Nepal. My experience includes popular destinations such as Everest Base Camp, the Three Passes, Gokyo, Annapurna Base Camp, Annapurna Circuit, Manaslu Circuit, Langtang, Upper Mustang, Mardi Himal, and several other Himalayan trails. One of the things I value most about guiding is the opportunity to meet people from different countries and backgrounds. Every journey brings new people, conversations, and experiences. I enjoy helping travelers discover Nepal while sharing my knowledge of the mountains, trails, local communities, and everyday life along the way. I believe that a good guide should not only lead the way but also support travelers, communicate clearly, and help create a comfortable and memorable journey. Today, I continue to work as a trekking guide with a strong connection to the mountains and a passion for helping people experience Nepal. From established trekking routes to less-traveled trails, I bring the practical perspective I gained from years of working in the field. My journey from a young porter carrying heavy loads to a certified trekking guide is a part of who I am, and I hope to use that experience to help travelers enjoy Nepal safely and confidently.
