About Ida
My name is Ida Bagus Swanda, but most people call me Swanda. I am a professional English-speaking tour guide based in Mataram City, Lombok, Indonesia. I have been working in tourism since 2005, with approximately 21 years of experience introducing visitors to the natural beauty, culture, traditions, and island experiences of Lombok. I was born in Lombok and come from a Balinese cultural background, which has given me a personal appreciation for the different communities and traditions that make this island special.
Over the years, I have guided travelers to many of Lombok's beautiful destinations, including waterfalls, beaches, traditional villages, scenic hills, and surrounding islands. One of my main specialties is exploring the famous three Gili Islands: Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno, and Gili Air. These islands are known for their clear waters, colorful marine life, and snorkeling opportunities. I help visitors discover the islands and enjoy snorkeling excursions, including experiences using glass-bottom boats.
I also enjoy introducing travelers to Lombok's waterfalls and mountain landscapes. In North Lombok, I guide visitors to Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls near Senaru, where tropical forests and flowing streams create a memorable natural setting. In Central Lombok, I introduce visitors to Benang Stokel and Benang Kelambu waterfalls, two beautiful destinations surrounded by greenery. I enjoy helping travelers discover these places while learning more about the local environment and nearby communities.
Cultural experiences are another important part of my guiding work. I introduce visitors to Sasak traditional villages, local markets, and the everyday traditions of Lombok's communities. My cultural tours can also include popular destinations such as Kuta Beach, Tanjung Aan Beach, and Bukit Merese, where visitors can enjoy coastal scenery and beautiful viewpoints. I believe that learning about the people, customs, and daily life of a destination can make a journey more meaningful.
For travelers interested in quieter island experiences, I also offer excursions around Southwest Lombok and the southern Gili Islands, including Gili Nanggu, Gili Sudak, and Gili Kedis. These small islands are wonderful destinations for snorkeling, relaxing by the sea, and discovering another side of Lombok beyond the more popular tourist areas.
As an English-speaking local guide, my goal is to help visitors explore Lombok in a comfortable, informative, and enjoyable way.
