Kamal Kulung

My name is Kamal Kulung, and I am a licensed trekking guide from Mahakulung, Solukhumbu, Nepal. I currently live in Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu, and have more than three years of experience leading treks in Nepal’s Himalayan regions. My journey in tourism began as a porter from 2016 to 2018. I then worked as an assistant guide from 2019 to 2023 before becoming a freelance trekking guide in 2023. Working through these different roles has given me practical experience in trek operations, team coordination, guest care, route planning, and mountain travel. I have trekking experience in the Everest, Langtang, Annapurna, and Manaslu regions. I enjoy introducing travelers to Nepal’s mountains, natural landscapes, local communities, culture, and traditions while helping them experience the Himalayas in a safe and organized way. Safety is an important part of my work. Over the years, I have developed skills in risk assessment, first aid, emergency response, route navigation, problem-solving, and communication with clients. One of the important achievements in my mountain journey was successfully climbing Mera Peak at 6,470 meters on 14 April 2025 as a leader. This experience further strengthened my interest in high-altitude trekking and mountain adventures. I also have skills in photography and videography and enjoy capturing the landscapes, people, and experiences that make Himalayan journeys memorable. My goal as a guide is to provide travelers with a safe, well-organized, enjoyable, and rewarding journey while helping them better understand Nepal’s mountains and local way of life.
