Kanawut Prowong

I’m Kanawut Prowong, also known locally as Mimi. I was born in Ubon Ratchathani Province in northeastern Thailand, close to Laos, and I have lived in Chiang Mai for more than 35 years. Northern Thailand has become my home, and I enjoy introducing travelers to the places, culture, scenery, and local way of life that make this region special. I guide sightseeing experiences around Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Mae Hong Son, and other destinations across Northern Thailand. I have more than 30 years of experience driving minivans around Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai, along with more than 25 years of experience working with tour companies. Over the years, I have developed strong knowledge of local roads, attractions, communities, and travel routes throughout the north. As an English-speaking local tour guide, I enjoy helping international travelers experience Northern Thailand in a friendly, comfortable, and personal way. I believe traveling with a local guide can help visitors understand not only the places they see, but also the culture and everyday life behind them. I look forward to welcoming travelers to Northern Thailand and sharing the region I have called home for more than three decades.
