About Lhakpa
I am a trekking guide from Upper Mustang, Nepal, and I am currently based in Pokhara. Growing up in the Mustang region gave me a close connection with the mountains, local culture, Tibetan-influenced traditions, remote villages, and the landscapes of the Himalayas. I have been working in trekking since 2019 and have around 6 years of guiding experience.
My trekking experience covers different regions of Nepal, including Upper Mustang, Lower Mustang, Annapurna region, Manaslu, and Langtang. I have worked both with trekking companies and as a freelance guide. This has helped me gain practical experience with different types of travelers, routes, mountain environments, local communities, and trekking conditions.
I speak Nepali, English, Tibetan, and Lowa, the local language of Upper Mustang. My language skills and local background help me communicate with both travelers and mountain communities. I especially enjoy helping guests understand the culture, traditions, landscapes, and everyday life of the places we visit rather than only focusing on reaching the final destination.
Photography is also an important part of my trekking life. I often carry my camera on the trail and enjoy capturing mountain landscapes, village life, portraits, and special moments during the journey. I like helping travelers take home not only memories of the trek but also a deeper appreciation of the people and environments they encounter.
For me, a good trek should feel safe, comfortable, meaningful, and enjoyable. I aim to understand the pace and interests of each guest, share useful local knowledge, and create an experience that connects travelers with Nepal's mountains, communities, culture, and natural beauty.
