About Nangel
My name is Namgel Sherpa, and I am an experienced trekking guide with 18 years of professional experience in the trekking and tourism field. Over the years, I have guided travelers through many mountain regions in Nepal as well as trekking areas in Tibet, India, and Ladakh. Working in different landscapes and with travelers from different countries has given me strong practical knowledge of mountain travel, trekking routes, local communities, changing weather, and the everyday challenges that can arise during a journey.
I have trekking and guiding experience throughout Nepal and am comfortable leading trips in both popular trekking regions and more remote areas. Some of the destinations I especially enjoy guiding include Dolpo, Kanchenjunga, Mustang, Tilicho Lake, the Annapurna region, Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, and the Manaslu Circuit. I enjoy these routes because each area offers something different, from high mountain scenery and remote villages to traditional cultures and challenging trails.
My experience has taught me that good guiding is not only about knowing the route. I pay attention to the walking pace of my guests, their comfort, the condition of the trail, weather changes, altitude, and the overall progress of the group. I believe travelers should have enough time to enjoy the mountains and local culture while following a sensible trekking pace. On longer and higher-altitude journeys, I understand the importance of patience, proper acclimatization, communication, and making decisions according to the actual conditions on the trail.
I also enjoy introducing travelers to the communities and landscapes that make the Himalayan regions special. Having worked across Nepal and in other Himalayan areas such as Tibet, India, and Ladakh, I have gained a broad understanding of mountain environments and different local cultures. Whether I am guiding a well-known trek like Everest Base Camp or a remote journey through Dolpo, Kanchenjunga, or Mustang, my goal is to help travelers experience the region in a safe, comfortable, and meaningful way.
