Norbu Gurung

I am Norbu Gurung, a licensed trekking guide from Mustang, Nepal, with 13 years of experience working on trekking routes in the Himalayas. I come from the Mustang region, and much of my guiding experience has been built around the mountain landscapes, villages, trails, and local culture of this part of Nepal. Over the years, I have worked with travelers from different backgrounds and helped them experience Nepal's trekking regions in a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable way. My main area of guiding is Mustang, particularly the Upper Mustang and Lower Mustang trekking regions. Because Mustang is my home region, I have a strong connection with its landscape and local communities. I enjoy introducing travelers not only to the trekking trails but also to the traditional villages, local lifestyle, mountain environment, and cultural character that make Mustang different from other trekking destinations in Nepal. My trekking experience also includes major Himalayan routes such as the Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Working across different trekking regions has helped me understand the different conditions travelers may face, including long walking days, changing mountain weather, altitude, remote trails, and the importance of maintaining a suitable trekking pace. I completed Trekking Guide Training through Nepal Mountain Academy in 2020 and received an A grade. I also hold an official trekking guide identity card issued by the Tourism Office Kathmandu. As a guide, I aim to be responsible, helpful, patient, and attentive throughout the journey. I especially enjoy sharing my knowledge of Mustang with travelers who want to experience the region beyond simply walking the trail.
