About Pankaj
I am a licensed trekking and tourist guide from Gorkha, Nepal. I have more than 7 years of experience in trekking and about one year of experience in cultural and city tours. Guiding has allowed me to explore many parts of Nepal while meeting travelers from different countries and backgrounds.
My trekking experience includes routes in Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Dolpa, and many other trekking areas across eastern, central, and western Nepal. I have worked on both popular and less-traveled trails, where conditions, landscapes, and local communities can be very different. These experiences have taught me how important good pacing, clear communication, route awareness, and flexibility are during a trek.
I enjoy helping guests understand the places they pass through, not only reaching the final destination. Mountain villages, local traditions, daily life, and the natural surroundings are all important parts of a trekking journey. I try to share useful local knowledge in a simple way while also giving guests enough time to enjoy the experience at their own pace.
Along with trekking, I am also a licensed tourist guide and have experience with cultural tours. I have a special interest in Buddhist culture, including monasteries, stupas, religious traditions, festivals, and the everyday practices connected with Buddhism in Nepal. During a city or cultural tour, I try to explain the meaning and background of the places we visit rather than only giving names and dates.
Guest care is an important part of the way I guide. I pay attention to how travelers are feeling, how they are adjusting to the pace, and whether they need more rest or support during the journey. I believe a good guide should be patient, approachable, and ready to adjust the plan when the situation requires it.
I also value respectful travel and positive interaction with local communities. I encourage guests to understand local customs, behave respectfully at cultural and religious sites, and experience Nepal with an open mind. Whether I am guiding in the mountains or on a Buddhist cultural tour in the city, my goal is to create a journey that feels safe, comfortable, informative, and memorable.
