About Ramila

Namaste, I am Ramila Shrestha, a licensed trekking guide based in Kathmandu, Nepal. My professional journey brings together hospitality, travel, trekking, pilgrimage experiences, international exposure, and social service. I have spent 21 years working in the hospitality sector, where I gained extensive experience interacting with guests from different countries and cultural backgrounds. This long career helped me develop strong communication, guest care, coordination, problem-solving, and people-management skills. Working with people has always been something I enjoy, and I see guiding as a natural extension of that experience. Travel is one of my greatest passions. I have visited 21 countries, giving me valuable international exposure and a wider understanding of different cultures, lifestyles, and traveler expectations. I have also worked as an international exposure visit coordinator, helping organize and support travel experiences for groups. As a trekking guide, I enjoy helping travelers experience Nepal beyond simply visiting places. I want guests to understand the landscapes, communities, traditions, spirituality, and everyday life that make each destination meaningful. I have completed the Mera Base Camp Trek at 5,340 meters, giving me direct experience of trekking in a high-altitude Himalayan environment. I also have particular experience and interest in pilgrimage and spiritual travel. My travel experience includes Kailash Mansarovar and Kedarnath, and I am especially interested in supporting travelers planning pilgrimage journeys in Nepal and India. I understand that these journeys are often deeply personal, so I value patience, respectful communication, preparation, and care throughout the experience. My academic background includes a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Political Science and a Diploma in Finance. I am also a Training of Trainers holder and have been actively involved in leadership, community development, and social service initiatives. Social work is an important part of my life. I have held leadership positions in different social organizations and have participated in initiatives related to community support and girl-child empowerment. Helping people in need and seeing them become happier and more confident gives me a strong sense of satisfaction. For me, guiding is more than work. Travel is my passion, hospitality is part of my professional foundation, and helping people is one of the most rewarding parts of my life. I look forward to welcoming travelers who want to explore Nepal, experience Himalayan trekking, discover local culture, or undertake meaningful pilgrimage journeys.
