About Rohan
Namaste! I am Rohan Thapa Magar, an experienced trekking, climbing, and expedition guide from Nepal with 9 years of professional experience in the Himalayan adventure sector. My experience combines trekking, mountain climbing, expedition support, and rescue work, allowing me to provide travelers with knowledgeable and safety-conscious guidance in a wide range of mountain environments.
My guiding experience covers many of Nepal's major Himalayan destinations, including Everest Base Camp, Annapurna Base Camp, Manaslu Circuit, Langtang Valley, Annapurna Circuit, Ghorepani–Poon Hill, Mardi Himal, Kanchenjunga, Mustang, Dolpo, and the Makalu region.
Working across such diverse environments has given me experience with different types of terrain, trekking conditions, altitudes, and mountain challenges. I enjoy guiding both travelers undertaking classic Himalayan treks and those looking for more demanding mountain and expedition experiences.
An important part of my professional experience is mountain rescue. I understand the importance of preparation, awareness, communication, and responsible decision-making when traveling in high-altitude environments. My rescue experience has strengthened my approach to safety and reinforced the importance of adapting to conditions on the mountain.
I believe that Himalayan guiding is about much more than leading travelers from one point to another. A good mountain experience also involves understanding the environment, respecting local communities and cultures, and helping travelers appreciate the landscapes and people they encounter along the trail.
Whether traveling toward Everest Base Camp or Annapurna Base Camp, crossing the Manaslu Circuit, exploring remote areas such as Dolpo and Kanchenjunga, or undertaking a more challenging climbing or expedition experience, I aim to provide professional, responsible, and personalized support throughout the journey.
I speak English and enjoy working with travelers from different countries and backgrounds. I value clear communication and practical support, particularly when helping travelers navigate challenging mountain environments.
My goal is to combine my experience in trekking, climbing, expeditions, and rescue to help travelers experience the Himalayas safely, responsibly, and meaningfully while creating memorable journeys in the mountains of Nepal.
