About Sajan
Namaste! My name is Sajan Khadka, and I am a professional cultural and heritage tour guide with 10 years of experience introducing travelers to Nepal’s history, architecture, religion, traditions, and living cultural heritage.
A major focus of my guiding experience is the seven UNESCO World Heritage monument zones of the Kathmandu Valley. These remarkable places represent centuries of history, craftsmanship, spirituality, architecture, and community life. I enjoy helping visitors look beyond the monuments themselves and understand the people, beliefs, traditions, and stories that have shaped them.
My guiding experiences include the historic Durbar Squares of Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur, where travelers can discover traditional architecture, royal history, courtyards, temples, and the artistic heritage of the valley. I also guide visitors through important spiritual sites such as Swayambhunath, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath, where Hindu and Buddhist traditions remain deeply connected to everyday life. Changu Narayan provides another opportunity to explore the valley’s ancient religious and artistic heritage.
For me, cultural guiding is not about simply listing dates and facts. I want travelers to understand why a place matters, how traditions continue today, and how history, religion, architecture, festivals, and local communities are connected. I enjoy turning sightseeing into a deeper cultural experience through storytelling and conversation.
During my 10 years in the profession, I have worked with travelers who have many different interests. Some are passionate about history and architecture, while others want to understand religion, photography, local traditions, art, or everyday life. I try to adapt my explanations and the pace of each tour so that the experience feels engaging and personal.
My guiding style is informative, approachable, patient, and flexible. I encourage travelers to ask questions and take time to observe the details that can easily be missed when visiting heritage sites quickly.
What I enjoy most about guiding is helping visitors develop a genuine connection with Nepal. My goal is for travelers to leave with more than photographs of famous monuments. I want them to understand the stories, beliefs, craftsmanship, communities, and living traditions that make these heritage places meaningful.
After 10 years of guiding, I continue to enjoy sharing Nepal’s cultural heritage with visitors from around the world and helping each traveler experience these remarkable places with greater understanding and appreciation.
