Tsering Dhargyal Lama

I am Tsering Dhargyal Lama, a licensed trekking guide from Samdo, a small high-altitude village on the Manaslu Circuit in Nepal. I grew up surrounded by the mountains, traditional villages and local way of life of the Manaslu region. Since 2018, I have been guiding trekkers through different parts of Nepal and helping them experience the Himalayas safely and with a better understanding of the places they visit. My trekking experience includes the Manaslu Circuit, Tsum Valley, Kanchenjunga Circuit, Everest region, Langtang, Annapurna Circuit, Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal and Nar Phu Valley. Because Manaslu is my home region, I have especially close knowledge of its trails, villages, communities, local customs and everyday mountain life. I come from a Buddhist family in the high Himalayas, and this background helps me explain more than just the trekking route. I enjoy helping travelers understand local traditions, monasteries, beliefs, village life and the relationship people have with the mountains. I can also help guests communicate and connect more naturally with local people along the journey. For me, guiding is about making a trek safe, comfortable and meaningful. I pay attention to the pace and condition of my guests while also sharing what I know about the landscape and communities along the trail. I want travelers to return home not only with photographs of Nepal's mountains, but also with a deeper understanding of the people and culture of the Himalayas.
