Hello, I’m Welly Manufandu, a local guide from Papua, Indonesia, based in Sentani, Jayapura. I have been working as a tourist guide since 2009 and have more than 16 years of experience guiding travelers across Papua. Over the years, I have come to know many different parts of the region, from the highlands and traditional villages to rivers, coastal areas, and remote communities.
My guiding experience includes Wamena and the Baliem Valley, Korowai, Asmat, Timika, Merauke, Nabire, Mamberamo, Tolikara, and other areas across Papua. I guide multi-day treks, village-to-village journeys, rainforest and jungle trips, day hikes, and high-altitude trekking. I also help travelers explore coastal areas where activities such as diving, snorkeling, and surfing are possible.
For me, guiding is also about making difficult journeys feel well organized and personal. I can help arrange practical parts of a trip, including transportation, boats, accommodation, food, permits through the appropriate channels, porters, and assistant guides when needed. I try to understand what each traveler is looking for and shape the journey around those interests.
