About Dawa
Namaste! I am Dawa Finjhok Sherpa, a licensed mountain and trekking guide from Dolakha, Nepal. I have been professionally involved in trekking, mountaineering, and high-altitude expeditions since 2009, gaining years of practical experience in some of the most demanding and beautiful mountain environments of the Nepal Himalayas.
My journey in the mountains has taken me from working as a high-altitude mountain worker to guiding trekkers and climbers on major Himalayan routes and expeditions. Over the years, I have successfully climbed some of Nepal’s most iconic mountains, including Mt. Everest, Kanchenjunga, Dhaulagiri, and Ama Dablam. These experiences have taught me that success in the mountains depends not only on physical strength, but also on preparation, patience, teamwork, weather awareness, acclimatization, and making responsible decisions at the right time.
One of the proudest achievements of my mountaineering career came in 2024, when I set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to climb Mt. Everest three times from the Nepal side. I completed the three ascents in 8 days, 13 hours, and 35 minutes. For me, this achievement represents many years of training, experience, discipline, endurance, and a deep understanding of high-altitude conditions.
As a guide, my first priority is always the safety and well-being of the people traveling with me. I believe every trek or expedition should be approached according to the traveler’s experience, fitness, acclimatization, weather conditions, and personal goals. I prefer careful preparation and responsible decision-making rather than rushing toward a destination or summit.
I also want travelers to experience more than just mountains. The Himalayas are home to unique communities, traditions, landscapes, monasteries, villages, and ways of life that are an important part of every journey. I enjoy sharing my knowledge of Nepal’s mountain culture and helping guests develop a deeper connection with the places and people they encounter along the way.
Whether I am guiding a Himalayan trek or supporting a challenging high-altitude expedition, I aim to provide professional, reliable, and friendly support throughout the journey. I want every traveler who joins me to feel comfortable asking questions, discussing concerns, and making decisions together as conditions change.
For me, guiding is not simply about reaching a destination or standing on a summit. It is about helping people experience the Himalayas safely, respectfully, and confidently while creating memories and friendships that remain long after the journey is over.
