Phuri Sherpa

I grew up in Nepal's Everest region, in a place where the Himalayas were not a destination but a daily fact. The trails were our roads, the mountains kept the seasons, and Sherpa life was simply life. By the time I understood that people travel from the other side of the world to stand beneath these peaks, I had already been walking among them for years. That is what I bring to this work. Guiding has never been about leading people along a route I have memorized. It is about welcoming travelers into the region that made me who I am, and making sure they feel safe and looked after from the first morning to the last. I am a government-licensed trekking and tour guide with more than ten years in Nepal's tourism industry, guiding professionally since 2015, with additional training in peak climbing, mountain climbing, first aid, and mountain safety. I have led travelers through Everest, Annapurna, Langtang, Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Mustang, Dolpo, and Dhaulagiri; to the summits of Mera Peak, Island Peak, and Lobuche East; and through the old squares of Kathmandu, the lakes of Pokhara, the jungles of Chitwan, and the quiet of Lumbini. My work has also taken me across the borders into India and Tibet. Some travelers come to test themselves at altitude and count the hours to the next pass. Others want to walk slowly, share tea in a village kitchen, and stand still in mountains that make everything else feel smaller. Both are the right way to travel, and I take the time to learn which one is yours. Many of my earliest guests came from France. One trek led to another, one friendship led to the next, and eventually those trails carried me to France itself — into its canyons and rivers alongside experienced French canyoning guides, and onto its running paths, where I recently finished the 21-kilometre La Carde Trail and its 1,600 metres of climbing.
